Pavlo Yaremak is a Ukrainian photographer and visual storyteller whose work explores the intersection of landscape, culture, and collective memory.
He has participated in a number of international programs in photojournalism and contemporary art, including the Canon Student Programme, where he was selected among the top 200 photographers in 2020 and the top 100 in 2023. During the programme, he was mentored by Ulla Lohmann (GEO, National Geographic, Stern) and Finbarr O’Reilly (The New York Times). In 2026, he was selected as one of ten participants in Openfolio, an international portfolio review programme organized by the Institute of Photography for photographers from the Hauts-de-France region and Belgium. In 2023, he was awarded a scholarship by VX Pictures to attend a professional photography online course in the United Kingdom.
His work has been exhibited and published internationally, including in the ENCOURAGE photo anthology.
Pavlo is a member of Life Goes On, a Finnish–Ukrainian art project documenting the war in Ukraine through the eyes of young photographers. The project has been presented through exhibitions in Finland, Lithuania, and Ukraine, as well as in a printed publication (2023).
In 2024, he became a fellow of the Fellowship for Mediamakers, a programme supporting a new generation of media artists.
His work has appeared in Ukrainian media outlets including Zaborona, The Ukrainian Week, Leopolis.news, and Ukraїner. He is also the author of a documentary film for Suspilne.Lviv created as part of the Archaeology of Memory project, dedicated to Ukraine’s mosaic heritage.
Together with his sister, he co-founded Ukrainian Fantasy, a music and cultural initiative dedicated to promoting Ukrainian culture internationally. Since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, the project has organized concerts, cultural events, and educational initiatives in the United Kingdom and beyond, raising awareness of Ukrainian cultural heritage and supporting Ukraine through the arts.
As part of this project, they published The Musical Tales of Ukraine — a collection of piano music inspired by Ukrainian legends, folklore, and ancient melodies. Each piece is accompanied by illustrations and photographs by Pavlo, creating an immersive journey into the world of the music.
The book has been endorsed by prominent cultural figures, including Stephen Fry, the renowned British actor and writer, Mick Audsley (editor of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire), Grammy-winning composer Penka Kouneva and many others.
