Still untrodden by tourists, Ukrainian desert island Djarilgach is a perfect place for a solo wanderer. A two-day train journey, connecting western regions with the first glimpses of southern beaches, provides a better understanding of cultural divisions within the country. But no matter where you or the people you meet here come from, one thing remains unchangeable – that is our intimate story, which you cannot escape even on the island.
